If this was a satire on how stupid the mentality that the police are the real danger here then it’d be funny, but alas, its serious and being reposted by those as if the sentiment expressed made absolutely any sense whatsoever….
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t. No officers are planning to “get violent” and no plans have been leaked or any reasonable suspicion for such has been shown by any source anywhere for any reason. It’s just a fabrication in service to a false argument. I hate defending government use of force, so it would be super if people like this could go ahead and not say dumb false things that make me have to.
Repeat: No officers are planning to “get violent”. They are planning to respond to violence.
No police officers are planning to loot any stores, destroy any property, set any police cars on fire, etc. If none of that were to happen by civilian thugs, none of that will happen by officers, so this tweet is foolish propaganda.
Then theres the protesters… I say “then theres” because the previously mentioned thugs are not protestors, they’re domestic terrorists and violent mobs. Property destruction, theft, and assault are not forms of “protest”. Holding a sign and using other forms of speech protest. Non-speech use of your body to mess up peoples day is somewhere in the middle but at least its closer to the protest side than the terrorism side.
But just so you all are under no illusions: sitting on the ground stopping foot traffic or standing in roads stopping car traffic because you don’t like the fact that a police officer acting within the law against a thug who attacked him was not indicted by a jury who analyzed more evidence than you did.
Worst of all, some people are comparing this act of “protest” to the Tank Man in Tieneman Square… (google it).
I havent been able to get any answers from these people so I’ll just ask broadly: This is a dark humored satire right? You’re not really comparing anti-riot-thug police to Communist thugs I hope… do you think the douche in the middle of the highway should be executed by the state the same way as the Tiananmen guy? If not then wtf is the point of such a logically and morally vapid false equivalence that puts rights-stealing destructive murdering communist armies on the same level as rights-protecting murder-&-destruction-preventing police in a democratic republic?
Please be less foolish, people. There are SO many real problems and outrages to fight. Why are you wasting your lives making fools of yourselves in unworthy causes?
